LITERACY PROS SESSIONS

The field of literacy education is quickly changing

Reading and writing instruction has shifted–making it challenging to know what and how to teach students how to read and write. However the goal is still the same–students need to be able to read the text and understand what it means as well as write clearly about a topic. And, as teachers, you are being asked to do so much, often without resources or professional support.

If you are looking for more support with your literacy instruction, I created these sessions for you! My goal is to bring educators together to support and learn from one another, while learning new skills to make teaching literacy easier and more enjoyable.

The Literacy Pros Sessions are a combination of mentoring and coaching for teachers. Over the next three months, we will dive into three key areas of literacy instruction.

These sessions are designed to help you end 2026 with confidence in how you teach literacy, empowering you to help more students succeed as readers in 2027 and beyond. Every lesson is designed to share current research and how it can be easily implemented into your instruction regardless of the curriculum you are using.

Come for one, two, or the entire program.

If your goal is to feel confident in your literacy teaching, I’d love to work with you!

Here’s what we’ll cover

  • Session One: Making Sense of Fiction

    Thursday, November 12, 2026 7-7:45 p.m. ET

How do you know if kids are making sense of the stories they are reading? This session will discuss strategies to teach to help your students understand the books they’re assigned, or even choose on their own. We will cover how this can supplement your independent reading time or supplement the reading curriculum you are responsible for teaching. We’ll also briefly cover how to help your students find books that they want to read.

  • Session Two: Teaching Content Through Texts

    Thursday, December 10, 2026 7:00-7:45 p.m. ET

All teachers are reading teachers (yes, even math teachers!). So, how do we ensure that kids are understanding the content that they are reading? This week, I’ll address how nonfiction texts can be taught effectively, so that students are able to fully grasp the concepts they’re being taught.

  • Session Three: Writing About Reading

    Thursday, January 14, 2027 7:00-7:45 p.m. ET

Writing is an integral but often-overlooked part of reading. Writing and reading are strongly connected. This week we will talk about three areas of teaching writing: 1) learning about your students’ writing skills; 2) how writing can be integrated into your teaching, and 3) assessing writing work and teaching kids to make sense of the feedback you are giving them.

  • Session Four: Your Teaching Questions

    Thursday, January 28, 2027 7:00-7:45 p.m. ET

This final session is all about your teaching! I’ll answer any questions you have about how to apply what you’ve learned in the course to your teaching.

Each workshop will be recorded and made available for a period of time after each session, so if you can’t attend live, you won’t miss a thing.
