One-on-One Coaching for Parents
Your child’s teacher wants them to read each night, but your child doesn’t want to or you are not sure if your child is actually reading each night. You want your child to want to read the way you read when you were growing up. Or, maybe you want your child to read more than short-form passages. When it comes to raising children who read, guidance and personalized support is a game changer–because reading is so unique to each child.
I coach parents on how to get their kids reading and understanding what they are reading, so that they become lifelong readers. Schools tell parents that kids need to be reading, but they don’t tell parents how to do this with their kids–and it can look different to best support your child. That’s where I come in!
How Coaching Can Help
My coaching combines practical advice that doesn’t take much time with research-backed strategies so that you can effectively support your child.
As your coach, I’ll help you:
-

Set-up reading habits
In order to get our kids reading, we need to help them create and build reading habits.
-

Find books your kids will want to read
Kids need to have reading materials that they want to read. I will help you figure out what books to try out with your child to get them excited about reading.
-

Make sure your kids don’t just read the book, but get the story
I use research-based strategies that you can use when reading with your child or when talking to your child about the books that they are reading–so they understand what they are reading.
-

Keep it fun!
If reading is only seen as work, kids won’t want to read. We will work on how to make reading fun and interactive so that your kids actually want to read.
